What do you put in a compost heap for your garden?

Question:my mom told me egg shells are good. are there any other things?

Answers:
Anything that was once a live. Cut grass, potato peelings, veggies scrapes, egg shells, ect... a little bit of coffee or tea grounds. Buy a small container of Red Wiggler Worms. These are small worms that will help you to make the best compost. These worms will also eat the veggies, potato, ect but be careful because these worms will multiply in about 3 months time. They only get about 2 to 3 inches long. If you know of anybody that like to go fishing, fatten up your wigglers and give them the worms they will love you for it. If you want to find out more about these worms just do google search. good luck

eggshells, kitchen scraps, grass, hay, straw, brown paper towels, newspapers, coffee grinds, spoiled fruits and veggies... Anything organic, except pet poop, cat litter, fats, oils, and colored papers
Anything organic. All veggie products and plant material. No animal fat or meat products.
fruits and veggie skins. Banana peels, coffee grounds, anything edible.
You do a layer of leaves, grass clippings, dirt and then the food stuff. Do another layer as above and continue. Make sure you mist the dirt with water once in a while.
all which are biodgrable can be mixed-in for composting, if you have effective microorganism try to apply it to hasten decomposition in two weeks time. trichoderma too will help to hasten. it is a compost fungus accelerator.
