Whats the best soil insectercide to combat bean root fly grub?

from my experience there is no bean root fly. the problem could be slugs or snails, the keal slug stays mainly underground so it not usualy seen.another pest is the leather jacket=daddy long legs grub.sadly there is no chemical now available for this pest.
Funny, I just discovered some of these creatures in the soil when I was planting yesterday (in the rain!). It is called the bean root maggot, (from a fly). Apparently, once infested, only biological control is possible. Check this Australian link:

You can control them by exposing them to birds or dusting with BHC or bromophos powder.
