Hydrangras help??

Question:I just bought a hydrangra plant and was wondering what the best way to care for it is?And also where I should plant it full sun, part sun?? I bought it from a flea market so it didn't come with anything on where it should be planted.

Answers:
Hydrangea can tolerate full sun to moderate sunlight but you must ensure that it gets proper watering. It is a perennial, which means it will come back every year. Word of caution from my bad mistake: Always do your pruning in the Fall to allow the plant to bloom again in the Spring. Do not cut away too much because those dry looking branches are what will sprout new flowers every Spring. If you cut it in the Spring, you will lose the bloom for that year.

If you live in a very hot climate, it will need partial shade. Avoid hot, dry areas and water frequently. Otherwise, big leaf hydrangeas prefer morning sun and afternoon shade in well drained soil, containing plenty of humus or organic matter. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a general fertilizer such as 10-10-10, watering after-wards to send it in the soil.

Flowers will be blue if the soil is acid (add aluminum sulfate to acheive this) or can be made pink by adding lime to the soil.

Good luck!
