Can anyone name this plant?
Question:Its flowers are very close-knit and in a round shape, it doesnt seem to flower right at the end of the main stem but in intervals up the stem. See the picture named The Garden 1 on www.flickr.com / photos / hcphotography . (without the spaces!! ) Thanks Helen

Hi Helen
Yep... it's a great plant for partial shade, but a little rarer to find in the garden centres.
It is Hydrangea quercifolia. Compare this image search comparison:

It's a great plant and if you really wanted one then the RHS have an online plantfinder service that should list a few growers for you.
Hope that helps.
Do you mean the Clumber Park one? If it's that they are proper roses not the cultivated ones you usually see in gardens or at shows.
It is DEFINITELY Viburnum Opulus 'Sterile' - I've got one just like it and have just looked up my gardening book for you.
Looks somewhat like the Japanese Snowball Plant to me - Viburnum plicatum

Oh - I've just checked out the answer above and they are right. It's the Eastern Snowball Viburnum opulus 'sterile'.
Thanks, you have helped me with a misidentification ! Meggans deserves the Best Answer!
Beats me, looks like ay hydrangea, but not the leaves. In Germany we have plant called a snowball with such flowers.
The leaves suggest Hydrangea quercifolia but the flowers aren't quite right so I imagine it's a variety of quercifolia perhaps a hybrid.
