Directions on cloning evergreen?

Tough question. All I know is that it can be done. You need someone with experience in taking evergreen cuttings. If you could tell me what kind of evergreen you want to clone it would help; some are easier than others.
I have some friends that can do it so I will pass along the little that I know:
Make lots of cuttings, many more than you need. You won't get 100% of the cuttings to 'take'.
Make the cuttings when the new growth is just beginning to become mature. Use young plant tissue; never old or woody tissue. Use tissue from the typical part of the plant, not the bottom or the top. It needs to be vigorous and healthy.
If you can't propagate them immediately wrap the base of the clippings in a paper towel and put them in a baggie; add enough water to keep them sopping wet until you can 'stick' them. The quicker the better.
Strip off at least the bottom two growth nodes at the base of the twig. and cut the leaves, if any, about half in two so the plant can still feed itself without having to feed too many leaves.
Strip off or wound the base of the cutting and before immersing in liquid rooting hormone mixed exactly according to the specifications on the box.
You can 'stick' more than one to a pot with no problem.
Keep out of direct sun; under a shade tree would be good.
Misting helps.
Use a professional potting mix for evergreens-usually has lots of pine bark in the mix.
Wait about six months or a year before you try tugging on them to see if they have grown any roots.
Good Luck.
PS It might be easier to just buy new plants after all.
