Is it me, or are there more unusual bugs about in the UK this year?

Question:I'm sure that I don't recall seeing some of these bugs before. I've never been a big fan of crane flys and have noticed some of them at the end of May - I thought that they didn't come out until August/September. And I've seen other similar flying bugs that look like crane flys but aren't.

Does anyone have any ideas why? Is just getting so much warmer that we're beginning to get more bugs in the UK?

Answers:
i live far far from you. just a few miles above Mexico and even here we have bugs coming that aren't supposed to be here yet. Some say global warming, so say change in seasons is normal, i say bugs are gross make 'em go away. especially with the whole west Nile cases about.

This is a really desparate question when you have all but told people what to answer.
There seem to be more insects about but I cant say that I have seen any odd ones. The warm spells we had earlier in the year has probably brought things forward. I know a lot of plants are blooming earlier this year than they normally do.It is all to do with the changing climatic conditions the world is undergoing.
It's a cycle, all entimologists know about it. They
cant hurt you unless your Female and below the age of 15. If you are Female, below the age of 15 take shelter immediately.
Yes there does seem to be a few more exotic bugs around at the moment. I am having problems with Brown Tail Moth, it used to only live on the south coast (within spitting distance of the Solent) but there are now reports of it in Oxfordshire. The problem with it is that the hairs on the Caterpillar hair VERY irritant to people and leave a nasty rash if disturbed.
The bugs are thriving because it became warmer much earlier in the year, and their natural enemies were not out in full force yet. And the moist weather has also promoted thier survival. But, it should start balancing out now that the birds are here. Just remember to keep all cans and other water containing things dry so that the mosquitoes cannot breed in the stagnant water. Their season is still coming.
Yes crane flies do generally appear at august/september but i have not really seen any other type of insects, but because of the extra warm weather there is no telling what comes in. I saw a programmeon TV the other day that a bee keeper in japan had hundreds of his honey bees killed by swarms od giant hornets.
