If you have a space 7'x14' and 10x10 patio blocks how many blocks do you need to fill in space?
Question:
Answers:
7' is 84 inches, so that is 8 blocks across.
14' is 168 inches, so that is 16 blocks long.
8 x 16 = 128 blocks.
You will leave a just over a 1/2'' gap between each block. Then get a couple bags of sand, and sweep it into the gaps. This will hold the blocks firm, but also allow a little bit of movement with freezing and thawing.
7 feet is 84 inches thats 9 10 inch blocks going one way
14 feet is 168 inches thats 17 10 inch blocks going the other way
9 times 17 is 153
So you need 153 blocks
Hope this helps
149 blocks. But I would buy a few extra. One way to approach the problem is to logically envision or draw the space. Think about it this way... If your blocks were 12' square (which would be much easier:)) you would need 98 (7 x 14). Your blocks are reduced by two inches in both length and width. The easy way of course is the idea that you would need about eight and a half across and about 16.5 up and down.
