Growing zone 5. I'd like to plant a second batch of Zucc. or yellow squash.?

Question:They usually take 55 days or so. Is it too late? Is there some other veggies I can still plant in my garden to maybe get a second crop?

Answers:
Yes you have time for squash. I live in zone five too. You still can plant green beans, cucumbers, cabbage plants, turnips, mustard greens and early corn. Radish and lettuce. Here you never know when you will get that first freeze. I have had tomatoes into November and also had them freeze in September. It is a gamble but so worth it when you get those wonderful fall vegies.

I'm zone 5 and i bet you could do it, i mean it is a squash, they are a cold weather crop. i say do it. If it doesn't work, at least you'll know for next year. Good luck
also, i bet you could get a second crop of radishes (they are really quick)
I'm in zone 4 (colder) and I'd be willing to plant it now. You'll find zucchini will keep producing non-stop until the fall - very prolific. To save some of it, I grate it up and freeze it in 2 cup batches to make zucchini bread over the winter months.
I live in KC and plant pumpkins on 7/4 every year and they take longer to grow than summer squash.Get on it quick!
