Can I use my basil leaves as soon as they start growing?

Question:I have 4 basil plants in pots that are growing nicely, but I want to start using some of the leaves. Do I have to wait until the plants grow taller or just start plucking leaves now?

Answers:
If you cut off too much now you will remove buds and plant strength needed for the basil to grow well during the summer. If you have some restraint now then in a few weeks there will be so much basil you won't be able to eat it as fast as it is growing.

Yes, you sure can. The more you pinch the bigger the bush gets so pinch away
I was thinking "She should eat it before the aphids do!"

Harvest the leaves within reason. You have four plants to use, so you will be able to pinch from all of them.
