What can I do for my yard beside water it all the time since I haven't received any rain in a few weeks?

If it's an existing yard, you don't really want to water it "all the time". Instead it is better to water deeply, once or twice a week. If it is new grass you are trying to grow, then you want to water it more lightly on a daily basis until it is well-established. Other than growing some shade trees, which isn't going to help you right now, there is little you can do if you are low on rain besides watering.

You don't need to water "all the time". It's much better to water less often but for longer periods. Make sure when you water that your lawn in getting at least an inch of water at a time. You can do this by placing an empty tin can (tuna, cat food) in your yard, and water until the can is full. Make sure you are watering either early in the morning or late in the evening (morning is best). Watering during the heat of the day is not a good idea as the heat of the sun evaporates the water to quickly. Also, using soaker hoses around the foundation of your house will not only water the grass, but will help the foundation itself.
Do like we have been doing to our yard. We have been turning more and more of our extremely large yard(s) into rock gardens.

Here's our site for the photos, we just got through a few days ago doing another part of our yard into rock. Hold moisture really great for all my flowers and shrubs.
You dont water it all the time. Use a sprinkler on each section for about an hour and do that once a week.
I have to agree that the other writers are correct, water deep and less often. Deep water will help because short waterings do not wash away the things in your soil that disolve in water and move to the srrface in short water cycles (including slat and selinium (SP?).

You can also apply fertalizer and move your lawn mower blade to a high setting. The water will not evaporate as fast when you have taller grass.

The other thing you will want to do is water AFTER you cut the grass to keep browning to a minimum.

Hope this helps.
