Does anyone know any specific instructions on replating a Moonflower?

Question:I have it in a medium sized pot right now, but I think it should go into a bigger one. Can I wrap the vines arond the deck, and how would I do that?

Answers:
I would recommend planting it in the ground, if it's at all possible.

I planted them in pots two years ago, and they grew up and around my porch. (No assitance needed - they naturally twine. I occasionally nudged a tenderal that was reaching in the wrong direction to something to grab ahold of.). They were not especially vigorous, and although they grew all the way to the porch roof, they never flowered. I had planted 2-3 per pot.

Not to be defeated, I planted them in the ground the next year. They would have to grow three feet just to reach the porch floor, but the constant watering in the pots was tricky, and they were often thirsty. If I didn't water EVERY DAY, they most likely started to wilt. I planted 4 in each spot, as they didn't seem that "thick" the previous year, and I wanted more green cover.

Well, they grew so much, they were fairly quick to the top of the porch, heading across the front, reaching down to grab passersby, and making HUGE masses of vines and leaves!! I could have planted ONE in each spot and had more growth and vigor than the 2-3 per pot of the previous year!

And - they bloomed like crazy. All summer. Never stopping 'til fall.

That being said, go ahead and replant them in bigger pots if you want - doing a quick empty-and-pop-in to the bigger pot, which already has some potting soil in it. Water well, a few hours before replanting, and immediately after.
