Solution for my Dirty Pond?

Question:My dad just build a pond (about 2.5m by 2.5m and 1/2m deep) in our backyard. I was given the task of maintaining it. After 2 weeks, I found out that the filter it came with isn't exactly effective in cleaning the pond as it is immobile and algae can form at the sides... So instead of getting a pond guy to take care of it, I was wondering if there was an equipment:

-An equipment that is mobile? It may go around the pond cleaning it?

-Cheap...?

-Any suggestions on where to get an equipment of such?

Thanks

Answers:
You could get a pond vacuum. We have a pondovac that clears rubbish of the bottom, but i suspect that your filter isn't the right type for the size of pond. If algae/blanket weed is the problem, have you got a uv in the filter? there are lots of solutions to algae readily available from your local garden/pond centre. The filter may also need a clean out. You need to go through the chambers and rinse all the sponges etc. A pond vacuum for the size of pond you have is probably the best solution
