Why is white pine tree turning brown?
Question:
Answers:
My first guess is pine beetles.
the most telling sign of beetle infestation is a pine tree needles browning from the bottom to the top on a tree that had appeared healthy the day before. It seems to happen overnight, but usually it take a week or so.
the only 'cure' I've heard is to remove the dead tree as soon as possible and do not leave any of the trunk or limbs in the area.
I don't know where you live, but in Colorado (and maybe elsewhere) there's a horrible infestation of pine beetles that are killing tens of thousands of pine trees.
