Where do I get a roller for my bermuda grass?
Question:Can I make a roller myself to create the different shades of grass on my lawn?
Answers:
With bremudagrass, both sides of the leaf blade are shiny, so you'll never get the checkerboard or striped look that you see on the televison coverage of golf tournaments. When you see the well pronounced lines on TV, it's because the turf is either a cool season grass or overseeded with a cool season grass. Most of the cool season grasses have a leaf blade that is shiny on one side and dull on the other. The pretty stripes are a result of mowing the turf in two different directions. A few weeks before a tournament, the staff will begin to mow the exact same pattern every day to "burn in" the stripes for the sake of TV. If you overseed your bermudagrass with, for example ryegrass, you can achieve the look that you want.
I would think, any kind of roller will do this for you by just rolling it over your lawn in different directions
