Can you plant a cherry tree from the pits of the cherries? If so what is the appropriate process to follow?

Question:They are bing cherries and very delicious, I would appreciate any feedback

Answers:
You can, if you are in the right zone for the cherry you want to grow. It is not as easy as pushing the seed into the ground, though. Most seeds need to go thru a cold period first, and many do better if the seed coat is nicked before starting.

Oh, by the way - you probably won't get the same cherry you planted, anyway. Better to try to find out the variety and buy a sapling.

Here is some info on tree seeds. You can find plenty more thru Google, if you try.

its tricky, but it can be done, soak seeds in warm water until shell cracks then plant them in small pot with pasturized potting soil and add liquid fertilizer once a week until you see plant leafs, then you need to transfer it to a larger poy but not bigger than 3" then keep in sunny area it takes about three years before tree perduces any fruit
I hope this helps good luck be patient
first off, u never want to fertilize when just starting from seed. especially once a week..thats asking for sapling death! i soak my seeds for 18 to 24 hours then plant em! "if u can sow it.. then it can grow!"
