Answers:
Here are some online guides to identifing trees. They are dichotomous keys, a tool used in the hortocultural world to identify trees. They are even used by volunteers at the university extension offices. I know because I are one.

Contact your local extension office or your local arbor society - they will come out for free to identify your trees - or you could collect fallen leaves and carry them to your local nursery or garden center.

Good Luck!
You can either take leaves to your local county extension office or check out a tree book for your area at you library
Look at the bark and at the leaves. If your not familiar with them I am sure there is a good website to help you with identity.
Concerned Mom is right on. Also, a good garden center can advise you on any necessary care or fertilization they might need.
