No escape form these things.
Chemical pesticides are not only harmful to plants and animals, they wreck havoc on the water supply.
There are many natural pesticides that can be either purchased or made at home. Getting the general public to use them, however, will take time and education.
If you don't mind the bugs taking over, just stop using the pesticides.
I think pesticides are a good thing and that they are being used better and more safely than they were 20 years ago (at least in N. America). The people most at risk are the farmers/ranchers and their families. I don't think it's coincidence that the only cases of cancer in my family involved jobs using chemicals and that includes agricultural chemicals. Planning for runoff is also important and seems to be gaining ground at least in our area. It doesn't make economic sense to waste pesticide, does it? No matter what you use, pests will develop a resistance. It's just nature doing it's job of survival of the fittest.
Most of the pest problems require government intervention because it isn't just one farm/ranch with a problem, it's the whole region. There are many agricultural websites. Search out those and find out what is currently being done. Pheremone technology is only useful for pests with certain habits. Doesn't work for most.
