Growing Seeds in Cups?
Question:Remember in Elementary school when they had you plant those seeds in a cup with a papertowel so you could watch it grow? Well, I'm doing that at home as an experiment to see how different plants grow. Which plants are the best to do this to, and will tree seeds work the same way? Like apple and oranges? And what about planting peach pits? Is it possible to start those out in cups? How long do tree seeds take to start growing?

Hello
Growing seeds in cups is very very simple. You need a light soil mix sold commonly as Seed Starting mix. Marigolds, Petunia's, Cucumbers, Tomatoe's, Basil, Parsley, are all very easy to begin growing. Tree seeds will work and you could cultivate them to grow inside your house, although if you want the tree to get to any large size you would need a large pot and then bring it outside when it begins to break through your ceiling after 5-7 years. Any plant can be grown inside as long as the proper conditions are provided for that particular plant. I'm not to positive about the peach pits but it can easily be looked up. Lastly all the flower, veggie, and herb seeds will germinate in roughly 7-10 days some 5-7 some 10-14 but never longer then two weeks or you did something wrong. Tree seeds will take at least 14 days. Bright sun will always help germination occur much quicker in all plants.

yes, just soak the seeds first for about 15 to 18 hours so they germinate even faster.
