The perfect lawn?

Question:I have a small lawn and I want to regrow the grass because there are more weeds than grass. I have killed off most of the weeds. But to regrow the grass I want to know if there is a good way to go about doing it.

Answers:
If you want to replant an entire lawn:

Step 1-Use RoundUp to wipe out your entire lawn, and you can actually replant within 3 days of using it (not 3-4 weeks like others have stated)

Step 2-Remove all the dead grass/weeds

Step 3-Level out 1-2" of new "Quality" top soil (without weeds, rocks, and sticks)

Step 4-Choose a grass seed to fit your home, for example sun/shade mix, Kentucky Blue, Shade Mix, Sun Mix, etc.

Step 5- In order to achieve a consistent (non patchy) lawn I would suggest using a broadcast/rotary spreader, and set the dial to what the back of your grass seed bag states, then proceed to spread the grass seed.

Step 6- To speed up the germination process and minimize the watering requirements use a Starter Fertilizer, also use the spreader to disburse this product. You can apply this the same day as the grass seed, but not at the same time(mixed with grass seed in the spreader) because the spreader setting is different.

Step 7- WATER TWICE A DAY

Step 8- Depending on the grass seed, you should start seeing germination/growth within 7-10 days.

Step 9- Sit back have a drink of your choice and enjoy your beautiful lawn.

Be sure to pick a quality seed, such as Scotts Pure Premium, it is 99.99% weed free, and is much more drought tolerant and insect resistent. Don't be foolish and go for the cheap seed, you've worked to hard to cut corners. Do it right the first time!

mix grass seed with your fertilizer in your spreader..when you fertilize, you are always laying new grass seed.

or go with layin sod. quick cure but obviously a bigger project.
If U have a tiller U can till the whole yard then throw grass seed out till it lightly again and then take a rake to kinda level it out,,,, Then just water water water.
Rototil it up, fertilize and lay down some sod.Chances are some of the weed rooting is still there, and most grass seed have weed and crabgrass in it too. The final control of the weeds that make it through will be much easier and less frustrating. and don't forget to water the crap out of it for the first week, then you can moderate normal watering.
Spread out new grass seed every two weeks for two months. And fertilize with the Scott's products that have the fertilizer made to have every grain mixed equally. And water a LOT. You need to water enough that the soil is always deeply wet, to encourage the roots to grow deep. If you only water lightly the roots will stay shallow.

Weeds are opportunistic. If you have bare soil, they will grow quickly to try to choke the grass out. If you seed the soil with your grass so that the grass becomes really thick, it won't leave any place for a weed to grow. Thick growth of grass naturally chokes out weeds. Which is why I suggested seeding your new lawn every couple of weeks.
Till up the yard or at least rake it up this is needed for good soil contact. Spread the seed then cover with straw and water thouroughly daily.
