How do I control Sandbur's (stickers) in a 55acre hayfield?

Question:Have Sandburs and they are getting worse. Have been trying to outcompete with coastal grass w/o good results. Please help, Thanks!!

Answers:
You will need to apply a pre-emergent before they germinate.
Just ask a local agg dealer for a pre-emergent for sandburs, I dont know where you are, but we do a treatment in March and another in May.

You may have to go to your local chemical/ fertilizer plant and ask for professional help. They have the chemicals to control the sandburs and the equipment to apply it also. As a kid we had to cut the sandburs and collect them in a bushel basket and at the end of the day dad would burn them in a pile. We learned to wear leather gloves and not shorts when we did it! Good luck
