I just bought an above ground pool, how do i level the ground?

Question:We tried to level ground using a shovel and a rake. we thought we had it level enough. Now the pool is lopsided, obviously at least 4 inches off. Please help. I know i'lll have to empty and attempt this again, but i'm just not sure how. Please advise, how do we level this ground w/ little money. We already put few hundred into buying this pool, and really don't want to have to spend any more money.

Answers:
You need a 2x4 longer than half the pool size ( pool 24' 2x4 needs to be 14'). Place the 2x4 on its edge with one end at the center of the pool area. The other end extending past the out side of the pool. Place a level (3 foot level) on the top of the 2x4. get the bubble centered in the glass by removing or adding soil. rotate the 2x4 about two feet and level that area, continue to rotate until you have made a complete circle. The pool will be level.

if its close to being level then sand works well
if it is really unlevel then somebody needs to come in and excavting the ground where your putting it
A simple suggestion...try a laser level. Try setting a cinder block (concrete block used for homes) in several spots that are opposite of each other across the are in which you are setting up your pool. Attach a laser level to one, and point it to the blcok directly across from it. This should offer you a rough guess on how to adjust your fill area.
You can maybe try placing a very sturdy piece or pieces of wood to act as a platform under the area that needs to be lifted up the four inches to be in balance with the other side. Just make sure the wood doesn't have any sharp areas or splinters to puncture the base of the pool. That's a dilemma!
I wish you good luck.
It's really pretty simple. You'll need a string (long enough to reach from the center of your pool to the outer edge) two paint sticks (or any straight stick will do) a level and a 2x4. If you don't have a level, get one.

Step 1. Visually smooth out the sand.

Step 2. Place the 2/4 across the area, and use the level to level it one way, then do the same for the other direction ( + ).

Step 3. Tie the string to the 2 sticks at the same height on the sticks, stick one in the center, and the other goes to the outside of the pool area, make sure that the string is level with your 2x4 (that you know is level) and you can use the string as a guide all the way around.

Step 4. Repeat step 2 (level) and adjust your sand as necessary.

This all assumes that you dug out the area where the pool is, and filled that with sand b4 installing the pool.
You will need to level it up with sand. Here's a simple but accurate level that I used when building my garden railroad. You take two yardsticks and a length of clear tubing. Attach the tubing to the yardsticks with the tips of the tubing corresponding with the same mark on each yardstick. Fill the tubing with water to a point where it shows about 1/4 or 1/2 on each stick. With this level you can see the inches that you are off.
