My roses head but dont bloom...?
Question:Why do my roses (hybrid teas) get a large but but then start to rot before they bloom. Why?
Answers:
Rose buds that turn brown and fail to produce flowers are classic symptoms of attack by an insect called the rose midge. Rose midges can also damage vegetative buds and stems and cause deformed flowers that do not open properly.
Remove all damaged buds and throw them away and begin using Bayer Advanced's All-in-One. It is a fertlizer, insecticide and fungicide in one easy to use mix. Mix with water and pour at the base of the bush and it will soak up the much needed chemicals. Your best defense is to begin using the All-in-One in early spring as soon as you see leaf buds forming.
Good Luck!
roots have some problem
i've had the same problem! it's most likely bugs or spiders getting in the buds right before they open and causing them to wilt and die! spray with bug-b-gon to get rid of the pests that are present then treat with bayeradvanced rose and flower all in one care! good stuff!
