Is something eat my moonflowers?
Question:I planted moonflower and morning glorys together. They have begun to sprout but one of them looks like the leaves are being eaten by something. The ones that look chewed up are coming from the lighter seeds. Will they be alright?
Answers:
I also have Moonflowers growing and have had several things that have eaten the leaves. One thing, on the bottom leaves was slugs/snails. I got snail/slug bait at the local Home Depot and that took care of them. Also, some of the higher leaves were being eaten by those awful Japanese Beetles which I promptly took quite good care of eliminating with Sevin Dust. Just shake the Sevin Dust on the leaves and the Japanese Beetles will go away!! I have to use this every year to do away with Japanese Beetles but if you will put down a fertilizer that has a "grub" killer in it, you won't have a Japanese Beetle problem any more. If you can rid your lawn of grubs, then you rid yourself of the beetle problem. I plan to treat my lawn with this in the fall since I have neighbors that have done it and they're beetle-free!! Hope this helps!!! GOOD LUCK!
it probably is being eaten... but i am not sure which type of insect, you could try planting pest repellent plants such as marigolds around as well or use a pesticide that is safe for the other plants and yourself as well
you may have leaf cutter ants get some powder bug killer at wal-mart put on all the leafs and some of the stalk
