My azalea plant has bloomed, do I cut it back now? will it bloom again this year?

Question:

Answers:
Depending on where you live, it's doubtful the azalea will rebloom this season. Cut it back immediately after the blooms fade and petals drop. If you wait too long, you'll be cutting off next year's blossom buds.

This is true, btw, of almost any flowering woody shrub, including lilacs, rhododendrons, dogwood, etc.

the best time to cut back an azalea is right after they have bloomed and quit blooming
If it is a Encore Azalea it will bloom four times a year. I would not cut it back.
