Who is responsible for weeding eating along a fence?

Question:I don't have a fenced in yard, but my neighbors fence runs along the back of my yard. He never weed eats and I have to get out and do it eventhough it is NOT my fence. I weed eat the side that I see, but he never sees it so I guess he assumes he is not responsible for the weeds growing up on the outside of the fence. I could see dong it if my yard was fenced in also and I was benefitting from the fence. But since I don't benefit from the fence, I don't think I am responsible for the maintenance of the outside of it.

Answers:
spray roundup along ur side of the fence!! he should be the one that does it but if u don't like it growing on ur side then just give it a dose of weed and grass killer... just spray the fence and let it run down along the edge so it don't kill any stuff u don't want to die! good luck

no you are not but he should be weed eating . do it and then hand him the bill. you should try to talk to him first though . good luck and I hope I helped .
Just like Life ya take care of your own side of the fence. If it bothers you he doesn't take care of his side, approach him and ask him if he can improve the appearance of the neighborhood by cleaning around his fence.
Spray some Glyphosate periodically if your neighbor does not want to manage his deal. Let a little slip through the fence, your problems are over.
YOU ARE because you are obviously a responsible person. You have to remember that we live in a world where increasingly the responsible, such as yourself, take up the slack for the shirkers. They need to start wearing t-shirts with the word shirker on it to warn others! I'm not saying this is right. I'm just saying this is how it sometimes is. And, if you haven't already, you could always DIPLOMATICALLY bring his neglect to his attention.
Why not just do it yourself? It might not even have occurred to him that the back of the fence is unsightly. That, and I'd much rather have happy neighbors and a slightly raggedy fence than neighbors who don't like you and a perfectly trimmed fence.
if the fence is in your back yard then by all means you are the lucky one.. if you do not want the grass/weeds they make a weed killer that will help you out a few good sprays and the job is done.. make sure its not a windy day, or a wet day .. they say a good fence can make good neighbors..it was his choice to put up the fence but we all know what you don't see you don't worry about..if your good friends he will understand when you tell him of the problem if your not friends well its just going to ruffle up his feathers.. good luck
