My Venus Fly Trap.?
Question:the new pods that are growing on my plant seem to be growing without the small teeth/hair like edges to them, so the pods remain closed, I am giving it rainwater. Recently after giving it a fly the pod went black after a few days and since then nearly all of the other pods have turned black. I have had this plant before and same thing happened that as soon as i feed it a fly the whole plant dies!! HELP!! Any advice??
Answers:
Try not giving it flies anymore. I have one too and the person i got mine from ( he's an expert with vft) said not to give them flies, and that they can catch them themselves. good luck
ahem stop giving them flies
Firstly, Make sure your VFT is getting enough sun light as this is a common cause of blackened traps.
Make sure you feed it properly and not with bugs laced with pesticide.
Make sure the food your feeding it isnt to big (insect should be 1/3 the size of the leaf)
hope this helps
There is no need to feed them flies.flies are attracted to them. I have one of these plants and until recently it wasn't doing so well so I set it in a pot containing rainwater and keep the water topped up continually (about 1 inch deep) and the plant is doing a lot better.
well, I guess they are not on the endangered species list anymore?
Sounds like you need to give it more light but not direct sunlight if its not used to it and stop watering it.
I live were its born; It likes wet leaflitter w/a sandy bottom for roots.
Hope it lives..Good Luck!
