Plant Marker problem?

Question:I purchased plant markers that are made out of aluminum and I wrote on them with Permanente marker but the ones in the sun have faded and now the ones in the shaded areas are starting to fade as well. I have used a label in the past but those peeled off. Does anyone have an idea on what I could use to write with that would not fade away?

Answers:
I think this happens to everyone. I've heard if you use a pencil on the aluminum, it will etch it. Or if you use the cut up mini blinds, write it 2x, once where people will see it, then also on part where it is inserted in the ground. That part will not fade. Even Popsicle sticks fade. Using plastic cutlery also works.

If you have the time, it's fun to take rocks and paint them with acrylic paint. You can paint symbols instead of words- like a carrot or tomato for that particular plant.
Have you tried using a paint pen?
all will fade in the sun. however inexpensive markers for the future can be made from discarded mini-blinds.
