Will pouring boiling water on an ant hill kill the ants?

Question:

Answers:
YES! It's a wonderful option if you don't have any ant killer near. But you must be VERY careful with the water! My mother got second degree burns from it once! Also another way to kill ants is... grits. I'm not lying! Just sprinkle some grits over the hill and the ants eat it and something in grits makes the ants stomach expand and explode. You won't see it though, just the remains. Hope I helped. Remember, be CAREFUL! Good luck.

only the ones on top
yes. but leave the ants alone.
All these questions about ants. Don't know if regular ants or fire ants.If you're talking about fire ants, No!! The boiling water would have to be enough to go 20 feet or more in mound. They will just move 5 ft. over.
yes, but pour an amount suitable for the size of the hill. If any survive, especially the queen, than you still have a problem. If these are fire ants, nothing kills them but fire ant poison. I know I used to live in Texas
I doubt it, but instant grits will get rid of them. I've also heard that pouring coffee grounds on an ant mound will run them off, but I haven't tried it yet so I don't know for sure that it will work.
If you want to KILL them, try this:

Chop up three onions and boil in about a gallon of water for about 30 minutes, mash the onions with a spatula or potato masher while cooking. When it cools off, strain it into a milk jug or something similar. Set it out in the sun for about a week until it rots.

WARNING: Do not sniff this stuff, it will KNOCK YOU OUT!

Pour around antbed, spiraling to the center, just enough to saturate the bed (about a quart should do it) Store the jug outside of your house!

Go back and check the antbed in a few minutes, and plant a tombstone!

I guarantee this will work!

Safe on the soil... It's just onion juice!

I hope this helps!
Add some Dawn dish soap to the water. It breaks the surface tension of the water and causes the ants to drown.at least the ones who dont burn to death! You really need to use several gallons if you want it to work too.
