Pruning Cotoneaster hedge?

Question:Could someone tell me when I should trim/prune my cotoneaster hedge? It hasnt' flowered yet, but does have green leaves and buds. It it uneven and not so "tidy" looking...I bought the tools to do it, I just don't know when?
Thanks.

Answers:
You should wait until late winter or early Spring and you should only prune if it has flowered on last years growth... Prune back the vigorous shoots to a weaker shoot.
