What's wrong with my lawnmower?

Question:I think I ran over a rock or big stick and the mower just stopped. Now whenever I try and start it there is resistance in the pullstring.

Answers:
You bent the crankshaft. I often happens when a mower hits something big enough to stop it completely, or nearly completely. You can get a new crank, but if your mower is old, the crank will likely cost as much (or nearly as much) as a new mower.

its probably stuck there
sounds like you bent the blade.
tip it over and look at it, try to spin it with your foot , wearing a boot , try to free it up. Or hire a landscaper.
Look under the mower. There is probably something lodged between the blade and belly.
Sounds like its a Craftsman mower.
Just a word of advice, if you're going to turn it over and try to turn the blade with your hand or foot, or do anything under there, PLEASE make sure you disconnect the spark plug first.
you may have bent the crank shaft or sheared a key. hope it is the key. if it's the crank it's time for a new mower
