When is the deadline for planting Tomatoes in upstate New York?

Question:I live in upstate NY and have just returned from my holidays. I was wondering when the deadline is for planting tomatoes? I am going to start with a small plant.

I gardened in Buffalo for 20 years, I'd get started now. Definitely start with a plant, not with seeds and put them in a cooler place in the garden. If all you have is full sun, well go for it anyway, what do you have to loose? Just a few dollars for the plants.
