How close to the property line can you plant bushes and trees?

Question:Does anyone know, possibly adding a website would be great. I've looked on the net and I can't find anything. What is the distance a neighbour can plant bushes and trees to the property line between two houses?

Answers:
Legally, you can plant right up to the existing property line. If you're having a problem with a neighbor's greenery encroaching onto your property, try discussing it with the neighbor. For example, if he has a large tree that overhangs and regularly makes a mess in your yard, I believe he is responsible for keeping it trimmed back from your property line. IMO, it's always best to have a chat with the neighbor before planting anything near the property line. My rule of thumb is to always move back 3 feet from where I think the line is. That way, I know I'm on my own property, and this allows for growth of the shrub or tree.

IN the US anything up to the property line is legal. Check the survey of your property; or look at the line between the two survey pins where you are planting. Be careful with trees; small ones get big fast and lots of neighborhood fights over hanging tree branches.
That is up to your township you live in. Like I have to plant 12 inches from the line, where my parents can go right up to the line where they live. Just call your local Municipality building and ask. They will give you the straight answer.
Call your local Zoning office. They can tell you the correct answer. Where I live, you can plant certain things up to the property line, the exception being trees. Also, wehere I live, any part of the plant that crosses the property line, the other property owner has the right to remove, without your permission. They can't remove the whole plant, only the part of it that extends onto or over their property.
