How do you keep bugs out of your pool?
Question:My backyard has a handful of trees, and a pool. Of course, nasty bugs get into my pool. Ex. gypsy moths, ants, flies, gnats, moths, and other gross things. I want to have a clean pool that I dont have to skim 500 times if I want to go in!! How?
Answers:
we have had a pool for years and there is no remedy. the solor cover only helps a little when you are not in the pool but the bugs come in as soon as its off. and when you unroll the cover they fall back in. it a hazard of water and trees. i have found that if there is more then i can skim i have the kids make a Whirlpool it only take a few minutes and the junk gathers at the middle. you can then skim it out with a hand skimmer of the vac. if you have a liner and do this reverse the Whirlpool the next time. if you do it to much in one direction you could stretch the liner.
Did someone tell you having a pool was easy?
depending on the size of your pool - it's possible to use a lightweight (bubble wrap looking) cover that also helps warm the water. I helped a friend create a quick roller with a handle at one end of his two-lane lap pool that we used to wind the cover up and lift it out of the pool when we want to go in - once it gets to the end, you lift it out and voila! all the bugs are gone. When you want to put it back on - it quickly unrolls when you pull it. Hope this helps! I imagine for smaller pools you could essentially do the same thing.
