Bits are falling off my chilli plant?

Question:i have a chilli plant that i bought from a seedling earlier this year. it has flowered but when the flowers die the whole stalk drops off instead of turning into a chilli fruit. am i doing something wrong?
i was expecting the flowers to turn into fruits but they just drop off. the plant looks healthy otherwise.
any advice please?
