What can I replace my Leylandii with?

Question:I need a good screening evergreen between myslef and my neighbours to replace the 'orrible' leylandii!

Answers:
BOX, and it flowers too. Makes a nice screen. Or live bamboo panels which do the same but are a bit pricey.

Privet or Rosa Alba.
Bamboo. If you want a quick spreader any of the Phyllostachys are ideal and some of them have beautifully coloured stems and most will grow to around 20ft. If you prefer a clumping version try Fargesia murieliae (umbrella bamboo) which arches like a fountain or Semiarundinaria fastuosa which is very tall and straight with rich dark green stems with brown blotches. Most bamboo will take a year or so to establish but are worth the wait as they never need clipping or much attention at all.
arborvitae, hemlock,
