Do you think councils in the uk should build mini parks and exercise tracks everywhere?

Question:now that most peoples lives have become more sedentary, shouldnt we encourage people to exercise more by creating outdoor running tracks and little mini-parks to exercise in?

by minipark, i mean something like a landscaped park only scaled down so you can dot them around all over a large city so people have one to go to that theyre no more than a mile away from.

they could incorporate a running track for the fit &or energetic...but also have a boundary that older& less energetic people [and pet owners?] can use as a "strolling park" with beautiful planted areas.

Answers:
Councils aren't the only ones who need to rethink the strategies they use to encourage our well-being.

We need to do this for ourselves. Less TV, less junk-food, less sedentary vacations, more exercise, more fresh air, more walking etc. etc.

Actually, with the amount of rain we are getting now, it will be a waste of money... Just use the normal Park, plenty of them still not far away.

How about community centres with cheap sporting spaces, such as Basket ball , Volley ball for the kids? Chess for the older, Pool and table tennis , things to allow everyone from every age to have a place to run to when bored and fed up of watching BBC Drama ...

Something to put Social life back on track instead of encouraging the lack of it.

A couple of Local Authority officers on the site would get everyone behaving, Resident Permits at low rates would do to control things better.

What say you to this instead ?
I'd prefer to see money spent on improving the pavements so that it's safe and pleasant to walk my kids to school.
This would only be helpful in areas where the current parks and paths are fairly full. If the current ones are nto overused there would be no expectation that large numbers of people would use any new ones. Cost is a large expense and then of course upkeep, mowing, renewing the mulch, keeping any equipment in shape, etc. is another large concern.
