Am I too late to plant shallot sets this year. If I am, can I keep them and how do I store?

Question:

Plant them out immediately. You`ll get a crop of a kind. Keep them watered with diluted fertilizer/water (not too rich). It will all depend on the length of the growing season this year (it started early so might finish early) so keep your fingers crossed. If you have cats, stick in sticks around them (the shallots I mean, not the cats!)

It certainly shouldn't be too late to plant since we are just into the growing season.
Almost every where it is too warm (or will be) to plant this cool water plant. I think you have almost no chance of keeping them (they will dry out, or rot, or mold) so you might as well put them out in the coolest spot you have available and hope.
Plant them out now. They'll mature late but global warming means the growing season will continue well into October.
I just put mine out 2 weeks ago, and they are doing fine. I plant mine under my lemon tree with onion sets.

If you are concerned about the weather (heat), you can grow them inside in a sunny windowsill.
