A completely natural and pumpless pond?
Question:Could someone tell me 1) if this is possible to build? 2) how to build something like this?
I'd like to build a fishless, pumpless pond (are pumps really necessary?) please help!

Uh, yes, you can certainly do it, but HIGHLY unrecommended. You'd have stagnate water, a breeding ground for mosquitoes and such, it will be filled with algae, and it will stink. Ponds are awesome, I've got 2, with waterfalls and a nice stream going across the yard to connect them. You can go to eBay and find a cheap pump and filter. When you decide what size pond you're going to make, then do an internet search to find the # of gallons the pond will hold and then you can find the proper size pump and filter you'll need. If you want a pond, you might as well build one that you'll love, enjoy, and will be proud of!
You can do this. If you do not have fish or any living plants in your pond you can buy clorox tabs for the pond to keep it clean.
Can you build a pumpless pond? absolutly, however dont expect it to be nice and clean looking year round especially if you try to give it a natural look. ie plants.
I have 2 ponds with a waterfall inbetween. The pumps I have are for two reasons
1circulate the water
2 connected to filters to clean and kill algea.
I dont have the time to clean the ponds which is the reasons for the filters. With the filters I clean it twice a year, at the start and closing/prep for winter of the ponds.
It will be difficult to keep ur pond clean. You can do wat the dude who last answered ur question do. Conceal ur pump with a water feature like water fall or beautiful clay jar in the middle of the pond.
drive around the neighborhood or look at some landscaping ideas on the interest, after your determine what you want, need to figure out the size of the pond. the pond, is only a hole in the ground, thence buy a pond liner to hold the water in, keep from leaking, you can hire someone or diy i would buy a solar pump with a filter to use to help keep clean, so a lot on it doesn't have to done by hand.
