Giant Poppies?

Question:Is it possible to grow giant poppies by cutting open the seed pod and just planting the little black seeds? What should I do to improve chances of growth?

Answers:
We have poppies growing, all you have to do is wait for the flowers to die off and then wait until the pods "open" and just get the seeds and just sow them. If you want to just water them with any plant food to help them a little

You don't need to plant them, just scatter them. They don't need any help at all. As long as there is sufficent water they will grow.
Take a sample of the earth from where you got the poppy and transfer it in your garden then plant the seeds and poppies will spring up everywhere.
If the original poppy was a hybrid the seeds will not necessarily produce identicle plants. In this case if it is a perennial poppy the best way to propagate would be by root division.
Make sure they aren't of the opiate species of poppies..they can arrest you for them if so..
I agree with bouncerbobtail although poppies love disturbed soil so lighly fork over the area and sew straight away.
