How long do squash plants produce squash?

Question:Mine have grown and produced like crazy!About how long will they do this?

Answers:
Summer squash plants usually have a lifespan of 2-3 months, depending on the drainage of the soil where they're planted, watering/feeding, and the weather. Last year my summer squash starting producing in late June and I was still getting a few squash in mid-September. The active period (when you are picking daily to keep up with them and finding yourself giving tons of squash away to friends, neighbors, anyone who'll take them!) will last for maybe a month.

Since you've got a producing plant(s) now, you could plant another seedling or two to ensure that you'll have squash further in the summer/fall.

Good luck!
