VENUS FLY TRAP HeLP!!!!!!!...

Question:i just planted some venus fly trap seeds. would it be a good idea to leave it out in the sun all day and then bring it in at night and put under a uv spotlight?

and how long untill i see some growth??
cheers

Answers:
Flytraps like it damp and always moist with INDIRECT light.

I put mine in a little glass fish bowl I got for $10 and keep it 95% covered to keep the humidity trapped inside. It seems to like it in there and it makes it easy to keep an insect trapped so it can eat it as a treat.

keep soil warm , and water it with non tap water. bottle water only.
No, do not grow them that way.

Outside is fine so long as you keep them moist, or inside is fine under a light, but not both.

there is no place on planet earth that a plant will recieve 24 hours of light. They need a period of dark to be healthiest.

Venus Fly traps are also from north America and therefore need a change in temperatures. Moving them in at night deprives them of the cool night temps.

Lastly, Venus Fly Traps need a period of dormancy, they know when to go dormant based upon the amount of daylight, as the days shorten, they prepare to go dormant.

Venus Fly traps should be kept outside as often as possible.

As for how long they will take to grow, they take quite a while.

In fact, for the first year they will be tiny and it will be several years, atleast, before they bet big. The VFT you see sold in stores ar usually 6-7 years old.

Jeez, you sounded like it was a freakin emergency, like the damn plants were eating your head. They are fragile
Urbanbulldog is right,

They like being outdoors in sun with constantly moist soil - use distilled, rain, or reverse osmosis water - or tap if it's less than 50 ppm - if the link he gave you doesn't work, try this one: http://www.cobraplants.com/venus-flytrap...

Most people grow their flytraps in pots with good drainage and sitting in a deep saucer so they can keep an inch of water in it at all times. This ensures the plant won't dry out.

Many carnivorous plant experts refer to the containers you buy them in as "the *insert store name* cube of death" Goodluck!
First of all you have seeds. Those seeds need to go through a process called stratification. I currently have some flytrap seeds in the refridgerator sowed on top of damp peat moss. It was recomended that I leave them in there for 8 weeks. There is another method that is quicker using Gaberellic Acid or GA-3, But since you've already sown your seeds, the fridge thing will be your best out.http://www.cobraplant.com/seeds2.html...
