How to kill weeds in garden but not harm growing flowers and vegetables.?

Question:

Answers:
I pull the weeds and then mulch with compost. You can also find corn gluten at better garden stores - it's a natural product that will keep seeds from sprouting. You have to cover the ground with it.
I make pulling weeds pleasurable by using a kneeler (I like the metal ones with the cushion, that fold flat to store), listening to music, and using a good quality weeding tool, my favorite being the hori hori knife.

use a product called preen. It kills weeds and feeds flowers, veggies, etc.
You pull them out, it's called weeding the garden!
the most effective way would be to pull them yourself. It keeps them gone longer than if you continue to use a contaminating pestacide that could potentially harm people and other pets/animals that might eat or inhale the pesticides. So pulling them up takes out the roots which is more than any chemical could do anyway.
maybe weed it by hand and then put down some Weedblock™ Landscape Fabric http://www.easygardener.com/egpcatalog/h...
GregL is right on the money. Used correctly this product will both fert and provide weed control. Use it after you have mulched and water it in immediately.
While Preen is good and available at most stores I suggest you go to a Landscape Supply store that specializes in giving the Landscaper his materials. Go in mid-morning. Preen was born from a product called Dyclomec 5G. Unlike Preen this is both Pre and Post-emergence protection. It kills the existing and serves as Preen as a Pre-emergent agent. A little goes a long way!
Use Weed-X landscape fabric (rated #1), it has a weed-free guarantee.
Hoe the weeds out and sprinkle PREEN where the weeds were. Repeat every 4 weeks.
