Choosing a tree?

Question:I want to plant a tree in my backyard. Any suggestions on the prettiest kind to get? Size is no issue. I am in zone 5.

Answers:
Plant a almond tree. This tree grow pretty fast and give a lot of shade and almonds as well it does take a little effort to clean up the leafs during winter fall but when spring is around the corner the almond tree stands way high upon your neighbors trees.

all trees are beautiful. what do you like the most? personally, i prefer either an olive tree which can be fruitful while still very old, or a pine (or other evergreen), well, because it is evergreen..
Linden tree. Full tree- heart shaped leaves and graceful tree.
The bees love to nest in there.
Any pine tree- they cleanse the air.
Oaks for your local druid to live in
Maple. They turn such great colors in the Autumn.
The handkerchief tree is very pretty.
There is also the blushing bride tree that has a very nice heavy blossom (pinky white) very nice & grows very tall, I have one. The puzzle tree is nice but very very slow growing.

a little clump of white birches...
The question you asked can not be answered correctly despite the previous attempts. First you do not state the shade/sun composition of your backyard. What is the general soil composition? Size is always an issue? Flowering, Fruit, Fall or Spring Color, etc.
There are so many splendid trees to choose from for our zone ( I am 5 as well). You can have blooming trees that are hardy and bloom from March to Mid-June, and some that do not bloom until August or December!! Some are cheap, some are expensive. Some get color in both spring or fall and others are evergreen.
A Real Estate Agent friend of mine used the oft used line of location, location, location. My response to that was Location, Maintenance, Appeal. Our zone is so rich in possibilities. You can contact me at gjgjobs@yahoo.com. I know I can help in both the selection and where to find the product you select from a quality Landscape Supplier.
