How Do I get rid of Canadian Geese?

Question:There is a retention pond behind my house and it's populated with Canadian geese and their young currently. They get through the pond fence and run amok around the neighborhood, dumping feces and eating peoples lawns with immunity to injury as they're protected by Treaty. I will be bringing it up at the annual meeting of the homeowners Assoc. June 5th to see what can be done. Any realistic suggestions?

Answers:
The washington department of fish and wildlife has an excellent page on this problem. It lists fencing and landscape options to make the area inhospitable to geese. The author, Russell Link, really knows his stuff.

My dad's neighbor is battling the same problem. He uses (1) a bb gun, (2) firecrackers and (3) a slingshot. The combination seems to be working.
A bag of bread and a baseball bat.
get a dog
have some American Geese fly in, that will run them off..ha ha ha ha ha
As of last month they are no longer protected, in fact they are now being called over abundant. My thought, kill them, or get a dog there terrified of dogs.
I work at a company that employs border collie dogs to scare them off. It seems to do the job real well!
I use one of these babies.tf

Canada geese are a pain. Populations grow rapidly and dominate their home range with something close to arrogance ! Reduction by egg removal, or `pricking` will remove current clutch of eggs. They are long-lived birds and will be back season after season even if they lose a few clutches of eggs, they are not easily deterred. If they are a health hazard you should have redress against the responsible parties. There is only one certain cure.
