I ordered their TV offer. It was supposed to cover 100 sq ft. There is no way they could possibly think that the tiny amount they send would cover even half of that. Maybe 6 sq feet at the 1/4 inch thickness they require. BIG SCAM, STAY AWAY. The guy I spoke with on the phone even tried to convince me that this 1.75 lb bag was supposed to cover 100 sq feet. PATCH PERFECT's TV offer is a SCAM!!
I can't tell you for sure, but most "patch" grasses I've seen are either a fescue or a rye.
Funny you should ask that question. I am at gjgjobs@yahoo.com and have, for months, been trashing that particular product. If you wrote me and I did not respond I apologize, however, the amount of email was too much.
I made a phone call to Perfect Patch and was enlightened by their response. The basic Patch has NO, NO,NO seed. The other option is the Patch with a Contactor's Mixture (read weeds) in the batch. A 5lb container cost is beyond belief. In effect, the product is ......
Do yourself a favor and your lawn a service and purchase true and quality products for renovations. Contact the Lebanon Chemical Company for the product called PennMulch. This is a dozen years on the market and sold in a 30lb. bag for the same price as the Patch in the 5lb shaker unit! Buy a Certified Seed Mixture at $3-4/lb or buy the Contractor mixture at $2/lb. Within two years you will be buying massive amounts of weed killer and overseeding with the Certified, at the additional cost and aggravation of monies and time.
I am sorry to be so long with you, however, this product needs an infomercial because it is junk. True professionals would never use it - should you? Even the Penn Mulch, Salt Hay, and other coverings of small areas is a joke. Prep it, fert it, seed it, cover it with soil and water.
As a Grounds Manager I was always asked why don't you cover the reseed or renovation. People would say look at the birds eating your seed. A month later I was mowing and not hearing any complaints. I knew the birds would break their necks eating the seed I planted. With Certified Seed I also knew the grass would germinate within days. I did not need a cover, rather, a firm base, fert, and water.
Since you are on the internet look up how many seeds per pound are typical of grass. To save you the trouble there are over one million seeds per pound for bluegrass, 600,000 seeds per pound for Rye, 400,000 for Fine Fescue in a typical mixture. At 2lbs/1,000 sq foot for normal overseed how many seeds did I plant?
Buy some cheap burlap for areas smaller than 100 sq ft. Always make sure the soil is ready. Without that the seed will not matter! Buy good stuff, not the junk this c.. is. Do proper maintenance and you will do fine.
The dog is probably more allergic to the existing weeds in your turf than the turf itself! It may also be allergic to the steps you are taking to redo or redeem your turf. There are other options. I am at gjgjobs@yahoo.com.
