What kind of plants to grow?

Question:I am redoing my back yard and plan on planting plants and shrubs that are low maintainance,I want to plant shrubs in large pots and want them not to grow large same with plants, what kind should I use?

Answers:
i dont think that shrubs would do well in pots.they get big and eventually the will die out because there isnt enough root room.

that would depend on where you live. Climate is huge when it comes to gardening. Your best bet is to go to home depot and ask one of their expert staff. also from what I know all shrubs adventually get big.
Can't give you specific advice since you didn't indicate your hardiness zone, but if they are to survive the winter in pots make sure the plant's hardiness zone is at least 2 zones hardier than yours. So, if you live in hardiness zone 5, make sure the plants have a hardiness of at least 3.

Be prepared to do a lot of watering!
if your backyard is spacious choose a part where you can plant a Chinese tea(remember to maintain its height) alternate with pink daisies. Its really refreshing to the eyes when they bloom. or you can also plant yellow daises. and on the other side you can also plant dumbcane also (maintain also its height.
Evergreens are your best bet. In a pot they will still need ample water (try drip irrigation for less work )There are varieties that are slow growing such as dwarf alberta spruce (nice shape), dwarf mugo pine (flat mounding habit), and there is a nice dwarf globe blue spruce (very nice blue color). All of these adapt to most hardiness zones and require some prunning with age but handle it well. Antother showy pot plant that is low maint. is Elephant ear bulbs, although they prefer 1/2 shade, and Cana could be planted instead if you have full sun.
