My hanging basket is dying!! Please help me!?

Question:I have a hanging plant I got a few weeks ago and it was doing great until this past weekend when it started to get all these white marks all over the flowers and it looked so bad. The flowers were falling off at an incrediable rate. Does anyone know what this could be and how I can save my once beautiful plant?

Oh it is one of those plants that you have to pull off the dead flowers in order for the new ones to grow back. I just dont remember the name.

Thanks for your consideration!

ur talking about a petunia aren't u? then the "white spots" are a fungus which will not actually kill or take over the plant! just pick off the dead blooms and the ones with the "whitespots" on em and get rid of em. far away from the plant! it's usually caused by too much water either from rain or by u watering and getting too much on the flowers themselves! cut back watering to once a week... deeply.. till u see water coming out the bottom of the pot and thats it! no special treatment such as fungul spray is needed... just get rid of the spent and effected blooms like throwing em in a trash can and it'll recover nicely! good luck

hanging plants are notorious for lack of nutrients and water. I suggest putting it in a plastic hanging pot with a bottom. Than water it with miracle grow. Good Luck
Almost any blooming plant needs to have the dead flowers removed. Please give more info on the white marks. Are they also on the underside of the leaves? Are the flowers red, pink or orange? It may be that the hummingbirds are taking too much moisture from the plant. Find a way to set the plant into a pan and water like crazy allowing the plant to sit in the water until it soaks up all of the water, then water again. If you can pick off any of the white spots then spray for insects. Don't forget to feed your plant according to directions on the food container. Remember it may rain, but not rain sufficiently on that plant. Good luck.
make sure if you water, stick your finger in the dirt atleast a few inches, if it is moist, hold off on the water. if the spots are more towards the end, it is fungal. the best thing you can do is prune with sheers that have been cleaned with achohol and then give it a product such as miraclegrow. your plant may not be getting what it needs from the soil, so supplements may be necessary. it will take a while to recover, but it will come around. trust me. lol. i know what its like. make sure that if you prune with a certain pair of sheers, that you clean them with alchohol before going on to the next plant, it spreads the disease/fungus. good luck!
The white spots are baby spiders and they will kill the plant. And any other plant near it.Or APHIDS they suck the plant dry and they spread like crazy...You probably brought it home with this problem..and didnt even now it.
