Artificial Lawns?

Question:Has anyone installed these new "real-feel" ones? Is there a place to buy materials and do it yourself? Like/Hate? Thanks

Answers:
Two of the high schools in Pasadena just installed them in the football fields to save water. The cost was $75,000 for each field.

I can't imagine one in a residential lot. I would either xeriscape, hire a gardener, or use wildflowers before astro turf. I had 6" of really good soil delivered, then had zoysia palisades installed at my Austin home. It looked like green velvet with no weeds and zero maintenance (with the kids across the driveway mowing each week) and had only 3, 10 minute sprinkler usage per week part of the year.

There are options, but artificial lawns for residential use would not add to your property value and would be a waste of money.

my neighbor has it and it has been 3 yrs and looks the same real looking!
I walked a dog who's neighbors had one and after a month of walking the dog I finally realized it was a fake lawn. I did everything but actually walk on it and had no idea even when I was on the sidewalk next to it. I really liked it and plan on using it myself when I have a home of my own.
