I have rust on my broad beans what now?

Question:this is my first allotment and i have rust on my broad beans do i have to dig them up or can i save them help please

Answers:
Do you mean rust on broad beans or their leaves. The infection is bean rust fungi and one can only prevent it from spreading. You can save the plant by pruning off the affected parts and spraying fungicides every week or often if it rains. Be sure to spray only under cool sky or the plant/leaves will be scourged. Well, I've just bought Carol Klein's Grow Your Own Veg book & as far as I remember she says that rusty patches don't really matter as long as the broad bean plant is still thriving. I can't remember what the cause is you could try looking it up on www.bbc.co.uk/gardening. I just had a look on there & it says it is a fungal infection & to remove any affected plant material but don't use it for composting. Hope this helps a bit.
mite be a bit late now but get sum rust spray ..u shud really spray the bean as soon as they start growing to stop the rust appearing
