What plants was i smelling in Los Angeles?

Question:hi, when i was in LA in 2001, one thing i noticed was there was a distinguishable scent in the air, particularly on the BLVD streets, SM blvd, Sunset blvd, etc, near the ocean. it smelled fresh and very much like flowers or greenery and it's a smell i have never smelled anywhere else, it was "lotion" like. i miss the smell and would like to try and get plants that smell like that for my apartment.

AND NO it was NOT smog. or car exhaust!

thanks.

Perhaps Jasmine, perhaps Henna.
